Edge Serialization: Aggregating Raw CSI-2 Camera & Radar Streams at Zone Peripherals

Ingesting high-resolution 8MP cameras and millimeter-wave radar raw data directly into Zone Controllers using high-speed SerDes deserializers.

Autonomous vehicles deploy up to twelve 8-megapixel cameras, each generating high-speed MIPI CSI-2 raw image data. Running individual coaxial cables from every camera across the entire vehicle to a central compute unit adds massive harness complexity.

Zonal Architecture Tech places SerDes deserializer hubs (FPD-Link IV, GMSL3, ASA Motion Link) directly inside the peripheral Zone Controllers. The local ZCU ingests camera and radar streams, converts the video frames into standardized IEEE 1722 / RTP Ethernet packets, and multiplexes them onto the high-speed 10 Gbps zonal backbone, streamlining the physical harness into a single unified data cable.
